In a weirdly shocking turn of events, MINI have announced a limited edition John Cooper Works sold exclusively with a manual gearbox, called the 1to6

We are huge fans of the manual MINI here at Auto House, so much so that we actually have one in our fleet – and you can see the video review of that by clicking this.

The news of the manual option being discontinued in the MINI range is a sad thing to see. It’s a gearbox that suits the characteristics of this little skamp perfectly, and it will be no more.

To mark the occasion(?), MINI will be released a limited edition JCW model called the 1to6. It uses the John Cooper Works Hatch as its base, and there are no alterations to the dynamics or performance figures. Instead, you get a top spec Hatch that’s finished in Midnight Black Metallic paint and has piano black accents sprinkled around. You also get Jet Black 18” Circuit Spoke alloy wheels and ‘an edition-specific centre-running Bonnet Stripe – featuring a repeated manual transmission graphic which spans the entire length of the car. There’s also 1to6 badging on the outside as well.

On the inside, it is all visuals as well. There are “1 of 999” decals dotted around (the coolest one is on the sunroof) and there are also some red accents throughout the cockpit. The ambient lighting rounds off the visuals for this.

All 1to6 Editions come with a high spec, boasting Heated Front Seats, Electric Folding Door Mirrors, Comfort Access, Driving Assistance, Ambient Lighting, Reversing Camera and Parking Assistant including Front and Rear Park Distance Control. You also get the standard 8.8” touch display with MINI Navigation System, Apple Carplay, Wireless Charging, Head-up Display, Harman Kardon Surround Sound, and a Digital Dashboard.

Just 999 of these will be made globally, with 150 of them coming to the UK, so exclusively is guaranteed. The caveat though, this thing costs just under £40K, priced at £39,600. That’s a lot for some stickers and fancy paint, but to have the last manual MINI ever made, it might be worth it.
