We absolutely love wagons here at Auto House, and BMW has just conceptualised one of the best things we have ever seen – unfortunately, it is not for production though
Wagons are the most versatile vehicles you can buy, giving you ample room for all of the kitchen sinks you want to throw in them, whilst having the driving characteristics of your normal family saloon. The BMW Concept Touring Coupé is another of our favourite variants of wagons, the shooting brake.

A shooting brake is typically a coupe which has had the rear end lifted, so there is not sloped roofline, just more boot space! Think Ferrari FF/GTC4 Lusso, BMW Z3 Coupé etc. This new Coupé Touring Concept is a one of kind styling exercise for the chaps and chapettes over in Bavaria. BMW state that the whole car is handcrafted and that there has been an immense attention to detail. That is apparent because just look at the thing!

Based on an 8 Series (presumably, BMW didn’t actually state that), the back end has gained some practicality and a gorgeous leather-lined rear compartment that you certainly wouldn’t want the dogs clambering around in, unless you used the trusty ‘dog towel’ that we all have. But there are leather straps (not for the dogs), a huge curve bulkhead to stop you being attacked by your luggage and even a flat loading bay. Very practical, BMW.

Speaking about the design, BMW state: “High-quality workmanship and attention to detail also characterise the luggage designed exclusively for the BMW Concept Touring Coupé by the long-established Schedoni leather workshop in Modena. The custom-made set consists of two large and one small weekender bags, plus a garment bag, all of which are perfectly coordinated with the vehicle.”

Under the bonnet is the familiar 3.0 straight 6 that we have all come to know and love, there are zero specs for this thing, due to it being a concept, and that is the problem. This glorious piece of automotive art is just that, a concept. Meaning there will no more of these made and it will not be put into production.
Unless of course we ask hard enough, come on BMW…
Gorgeous rear! ❤️❤️❤️
