Fiat have decided that a 500-based Ami should be a thing, so they’ve created the Topolino, for some reason
That’s right, Fiat (well, their owner Stellantis) decided that the Citroen Ami just wasn’t cute enough so they decided swift action must be taken! That action resulted in, well, this. It’s called the Topolino.
Now that is a name that is not brand new to Fiat, they actually created a Topolino (which translates to “little mouse”) way back in 1936, and kept production until 1955. That was one of the smallest cars you could buy back then, which seems fitting as the Ami is one of the smallest you can buy today.
Being the Ami means that it is technically classed as a quadricycle in France and can be driven by literal children. Not the case in the UK, you still have to be 17 and have a full UK driving license. However, it’s often quite cold here and the Little Mouse has no doors, just a piece of rope that you’d find at the entrance to a VIP section in a nightclub.
Still, the Topolino is cute, and does look like a strange kit car version of the 500. It works. However, it is not going to be fast. That’s because it is likely to share the same underpinnings as its French counterpart, which means a 5.5 kWh battery, a range of 46 miles in a city and a 0-60 time of never, actually. That’s due to the fact that the Ami will top out at 28 mph.
Will we see them in the UK? Possibly, given that we also get the Ami.
