In a strange turn of events, Nissan have now decided that they’re going to offer a subscription model for the cars… with a catch

Car subscriptions are not a new thing, and they seem to be gaining more momentum and popularity as the days pass. Nissan is seemingly wanting in on the action of this new phase and they’ve called it “Nissan Subscription”. I bet that took a while to think of.

Volvo have been at it for a bit now, Maserati are giving it a go but this is the first more mainstream manufacturer to really have a crack at it. However, if you think you’d be able to get behind any Nissan car you’d like, you would be wrong. As per the narrative of the motoring world at the moment, the Nissan Subscription is only available on their electrified cars.

The idea is that the finance, insurance, tax, servicing and roadside assistance is all covered under one payment, all you have to pay for is the fuel or electrons to charge it. The cool thing is that the insurance will cover up to five drivers, so could be useful for a family that shares a car – not one that has 7 cars in various states of repair on their drive…

The cars that can be used are the Qashqai e-POWER N-Connecta, LEAF 39kWh Tekna and Ariya 87kWh Evolve. Prices start from £645 per month and can be secured with a refundable deposit. Prices include 800 miles usage per month as standard, though mileages can be tailored to customer requirements. You can also choose between having a new car every 3 months all the way up to 2 years.

Andrew Humberstone, managing director at Nissan GB said: “We’re really excited about Nissan Subscription as it will appeal to a completely different type of customer for us and bring a whole new audience to our brand.

“There’s a new generation of motorist coming through that is looking for an entirely digital purchase experience, likes the idea of swapping their car from time to time to suit different needs, and wants to avoid the hassle of motoring admin. Nissan Subscription is perfect for them: one simple monthly payment and they’ve got everything covered.”

Everything is all done online over at the Nissan website, and can be sorted in ‘just a few clicks’. It seems like car subscriptions are here to stay.
