The Japanese pickup brand, Isuzu UK, has seen an almighty increase in the number of sales – potentially highlighting a shift if the market

Isuzu UK have recorded a massive amount of growth in the first 6 months of this year, seeing a huge 200% increase in registrations of single cab 4×4 manual pick-ups in 2023 compared to the previous year. It’s no real surprise as I have been noticing them a lot more over here in rural Wales as they are a firm favourite for farmers and tradies alike.

Isuzu have recently partnered with ARB

We’ve known for a while how capable their trucks are and this is just another statement as the British public and fleet managers continue to buy them – wanting a truck that does pretty much everything. The more interesting statistic is the 58.93% increase in registrations of double cab automatic pick-ups in 2023 compared to the previous year.

Why? Well because trucks seem to be in a small battle with SUVs about which is a superior family vehicle. Trucks have always been reserved for the commercial sector, but in the last 10 years there has been an increasing demand for ‘posh’ pickups. We know the lifestyle market is bigger than ever and more and more manufacturers are starting to target it. Just look at Volkswagen, Ford and even SsangYong.

The overall pickup market in the UK has seen growth this year but Isuzu has seen the biggest, which is remarkable as the company currently makes one vehicle, the D-Max, which is responsible for those numbers. ‘When considering all segments and factors, Isuzu UK has experienced an impressive 30.49% year-to-date increase in overall registrations for 2023 compared to the previous year’ reads the press release. An exceptional achievement for the small pickup brand.

Alan Able, Managing Director at Isuzu UK, enthusiastically expressed, “Despite recent global supply challenges, witnessing our business thrive and expand not only within the fleet and trade sectors but also in the lifestyle market is incredibly heartening. Sustaining this remarkable growth since the start of the year serves as a testament to the outstanding quality of our award-winning vehicles and the unwavering commitment of the entire Isuzu community. I extend my immense gratitude and congratulations to everyone involved, including the factory staff in Thailand, the dedicated Isuzu UK team members, and our extensive dealer network. With great anticipation, I look forward to the continuation of this growth throughout the second half of the year and beyond.”
