The Maeving RM1S is here, offering greater performance, usability, range and technology over the standard RM1

The Maeving RM1S is here, building upon the success of its predecessor, the RM1, which rolled onto the scene in 2022. This isn’t just an upgrade; it’s a quantum leap forward that transforms the existing RM1 into a truly usable bike for those who don’t live in a city.

The RM1S takes speed to another level thankfully. With a top speed of 65 mph, it’s much more usable over the the RM1, which clocks in at 45 mph. The increase in top speed allows us country-folk to actually get up to real-world speeds that we experience on these roads. Sure, it isn’t going to set any land speed records but it is much more than that.

What’s better than speed? Speed with range. The RM1S delivers with an extended range of up to 80 miles, thanks to its beefed-up battery packs. Again, highlighting a much more usable riding range, whilst it is still down on a conventional petrol-powered bike – it shows progress is being made.

The RM1S also features faster charging, taking just 3.5 hours with the onboard charger or 2.5 hours with the optional fast charger. Compare this to the RM1’s 4.5-hour charge time with the onboard charger. With the RM1S, you’re spending more time in the saddle and less time tethered to a charging station.

Beneath the gorgeous classic styled exterior lies the hidden powerhouse – a 7 kW (9.4 hp) electric motor, dwarfing the RM1’s 3 kW (4.4 hp) motor. Acceleration should be much sharper here as well.

The RM1S isn’t just about an upgrade in performance. It comes loaded with advanced features that were previously unheard of in the standard RM1. A vibrant 7-inch TFT display keeps you informed at a glance. A keyless ignition system adds a touch of convenience, and a built-in GPS tracker gives you peace of mind by allowing you to keep tabs on your motorcycle’s whereabouts.

Another cool feature (as with most small electric bikes) is that you can ride this on a CBT, allowing you to ease into motorcycling with relative ease and affordability. The Maeving RM1S opens up a world of possibilities, and whether you’re into EV bikes or not, getting younger riders interested in the world of 2 wheels can only be a good thing.

The RM1S is available for pre-order now, with deliveries starting in March 2024. The starting price is £7,495.
