Today we have been told that EV manufacturer, Tesla has cancelled all existing orders for their upcoming Model S and Model X cars – including the 1,019bhp Plaid
In an effort to increase efficiency and quality of their latest batch of cars, Tesla has cancelled all right hand drive orders in both the UK and Ireland for the ‘foreseeable future’. Unfortunately, that does include the 1,019bhp Plaid versions of both cars.
The cancellation is the result of logistical and complex challenges needed to be performed in order to make the cars right hand drive. This means that only the left hookers will be produced and allows Tesla to ramp up production of those variants.
If you do have a current reservation held with them, you can either receive £2,000 contribution to a Model 3 or Model Y, purchase a left hand drive from existing stock or simply cancel your order.
In an effort to tempt prospective buyers, Tesla is holding events in London between 28 May and 30 June so that current reservation holders can test drive the left hand drive variants.
The only silver lining is that you can now order a Plaid version of either vehicle. Prices for the LHD only Model Plaid start from £114,930 whilst the (again, LHD only) Model X Plaid start from £124,780.
