The SsangYong Musso is a bit of an unknown vehicle in the UK, despite the fact that SsangYong have been in the UK since 1996, and the Musso has been with us since 2006.
We recently had the pleasure of reviewing the SsangYong Musso pickup truck from the South Korean manufacturer. First impressions are that the interior quality is exceptional for a truck, and really sets it apart from its rivals. You had a lovely digital drivers display, heated and cooled seats and even heated seats in the rear.
The exterior was equally as impressive as it really commands and immense presence on the road. And talking about it being on the road, it drives just like a big SUV, that’s thanks in part to the coil springs fitted on each corner. They do make the ride rather firm but that is because they have very high spring rates as this is the only truck in its class that can simultaneously tow 3.5 tonnes whilst carrying a further 1 tonne in the back.
We had the top spec Saracen, which is the shortest but poshest version they make. You can option the larger Saracen Plus model which extends the standard 1,000L load space to 1,200L – which is rather a lot.
Engine-wise, you have a 2.2 litre, turbocharged 4 cylinder diesel that puts out 200bhp and 440Nm of torque. This engine pulls really strongly, and never feels like it’s lacking. It’s also surprisingly refined as well!

Trucks have always been reserved for the commercial sector, but in the last 10 years there has been an increasing demand for ‘posh’ pickups. We know the lifestyle market is bigger than ever and more and more manufacturers are starting to target it. Just look at Volkswagen, Ford and even SsangYong. […]
