Toyota revealed plans to increase their electric vehicle offerings, showcasing a new Lexus saloon and crucially, a wagon.
It has been far too long since we’ve had a Lexus wagon, with the only offering being the MK1 (XE10) IS200/300 Sportcross. A car that could be had with a non-turbo version of the 2JZ in 300 form, plus a manual gearbox. When the MK2 came out, there was a certain absence of the Sportcross, and that has been vacant all the way up to now, with the MK4.

However, Toyota revealed a table with their future cars, and we can see in the ‘Luxury’ segment, that there is a clear outline of a saloon and a wagon. Details are incredibly tight on this, as expected, but it would be highly unlikely that a Toyota would slot into the Luxury segment when they have a fully fledged brand that does it for them.
The other thing to bear in mind is that we won’t be seeing an IS F wagon with a 5.0 V8 and a big boot anytime soon, as this table is only EV’s. Still, it could be just what Lexus are after, as their offerings in the UK seem to be dwindling. However, the IS is no more over here, neither is the GS. The only saloons we have are the LS and ES, so it could be that this will be an EV wagon version of the ES.

Here’s to hoping they make an F version, or actually just make it at all. EV or not, a Lexus wagon is something we need!
