KGM Motors UK (formerly of SsangYong naming) has unveiled its latest offering, the Torres EVX, marking a significant milestone in the company’s electric vehicle lineup. This battery electric vehicle (BEV) falls within the C+ segment and shares its platform with the Torres 1.5 G-Di turbocharged petrol engine variant, which made its debut this year in February 2024.
Blending futuristic design with the ruggedness of a traditional SUV/4×4, the Torres EVX embodies urban sophistication while maintaining robust off-road capabilities. With innovative technology and a class-leading load space of 1,662 litres, it promises to be an efficient choice for city driving and outdoor adventures alike, all powered by electric energy.
Following KGM’s design ethos of “Powered by Toughness,” the Torres EVX boasts modern lines and distinctive features like horizontal LED daytime running lights, striking a harmonious balance between strength and elegance.
Inside, the cabin mirrors the layout of its ICE counterpart, offering a spacious environment with a focus on driver visibility and convenience. The ergonomic dashboard and dual 12.3-inch digital interface ensure a clutter-free cockpit designed for maximum control.
Under the bulky bonnet, the EVX is powered by a BYD lithium iron phosphate blade battery and leverages ‘cell to pack’ technology, achieving an impressive driving range of 287 miles (WLTP) on a single charge. Safety features include GSR compliance with EU regulations, intelligent speed control, and safety speed assist.

Built on a versatile platform designed for multiple drivetrains, the Torres EVX allows drivers to embrace KGM’s SUV and 4×4 heritage while experiencing the latest in EV technology. Equipped with a 3-in-1 EV motor system, BYD blade battery, integrated 3-in-1 power conversion module, and ‘shift-by-wire’ toggle switch for gear control, the Torres prioritises both safety and convenience.
Additionally, the Torres EVX offers a whopping 1 million km battery warranty, providing customers with confidence on every journey. Customisable and fast charging enhances the driver’s charging experience, while a vehicle-to-load (V2L) connector supplies power for outdoor appliances directly from the car’s battery.
The spacious interior of the EVX boasts comfort and contemporary design, complemented by standard features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, DAB radio, front USB and AUX ports, TomTom navigation (hit and miss in our experience – you’re better off sticking with CarPlay or Android Auto), and wireless phone charging. The Torres EVX K40 model also includes a 3D 360˚ ‘surround view’ monitoring system for safe and easy parking.
With generous cabin and load space, the Torres EVX sets a new industry standard for luggage capacity and storage, reaching up to 1,662 litres. Additionally, it offers a towing capacity of up to 1.5 tonnes and competitive approach and departure angles for off-road driving.
